Five Facts about Brain that would leave you in amazement.

It is said by top neurologist and neurosurgeons that we humans have explored many things in the brain but what we know of it counts only 2% of all. There are many unanswered questions of which we are not known yet. Scientist and doctors are still studying the the brain vastly.

Fact 1: It is said that there are more inter neuronal connections in our brain than the total number of stars in the galaxy. 

Inter neuronal connections is formed by the extension of nerve fibers that form connection between two adjacent neurons. These connection can be between two axons, between two cytons or between cyton and axon. There can be numerous connections between two adjacent neurons. It is said that there are more connections than the total number of stars in the galaxy. If on an average there are about 100 billion stars in our galaxy and 200 billion of neurons in our brain. Then imagine how many connections might be there in our brain. 

Fact 2: It is scientifically proven that person with more intelligence tend to have more inter neuronal connections. 

Based on autopsy report it is scientifically proven that person having more inter neuronal connections have more intelligence and vice versa. They are related to thinking, memory, decision taking ability and intelligence of an individual. 

Note: Having more gyri and sulci in the brain is also associated with more intelligence. Having more gyri and sulci increases surface area of our brain and thereby surface neurons. So person with more gyri and sulci tend to have more intelligence. 

Fact 3: Our brain weighs about 1.5 kg but what we feel is just 50 gm.

It is great astonishment to many but it is based on a simple fact that when solids are suspended  in the liquid they exert less force due to buoyancy force acting on them.

Our brain is suspended in Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF). Owing to this our large brain of 1.5 kg is felt of about 50 gm only. Imagine how difficult it would have been if you felt the load of your brain all the time at all the places you go. 

Fact 4: Brain signals can travel at a speed of about 125 meters per second. 

Brains functioning speed (reflexes) wouldn't have been so startling without these beautiful science fact. Our neurons can carry signals from receptor to brain and back to receptor from brain. The speed is so much enormous that the whole process is carried out within a fraction of second. 

Imagine if your brain get to know that your hand is burning after 30 second and it take another 30 seconds to take action on it. Lets thank it for the moment for saving us innumerable times.

Fact 5: There are about 180-200 billion neurons in an adult brain. 

There are 100 billion stars in the universe. But looking at the count of neurons in a single brain tells us that our brain are very complex anatomy having about double the number of stars. having more intelligence is associated with more intelligence.
